The Monkey — Anna, my daughter, born March 26, 2008 (11:36 a.m., 8 lbs 1 oz!) She insists on climbing over everything, and multiple people refer to her as a monkey. (She also looks like one too!)
Momma Cum Laude / The Monkey’s Mommy — Me, Lauren. I’m a single mom, 22 years old, living in my parent’s basement for the next year until I graduate (December 2009!). Then, it’s off to someplace where I will do something. (Yep, I sure know where I’ll be after I graduate, ha!) I’m an English major, and I enjoy writing (sometimes) and editing. I currently work as a writing tutor on campus, and I love it.

Blogging is extremely therapeutic, and that’s what this blog is all about. There’s a lot I can say about getting through college as a single parent — and I will talk about it — but my mind is constantly going in many directions at once, and you’ll get a good taste of that here

Welcome to single mamahood!!
It’s a damn good place to be.
Wait wait I just read that you live in MI? Me too me too.
Wow, I just found the virtual world of single mom student bloggers, and I think it’s haaaawsome!!
Welcome to single motherhood. My life totally started kicking ass after I had Isabella (now 3). Way better than when I was engaged to the sperm donor.
Congratulations!
Happy Father’s Day!! I’m a product of a single mother…and I don’t think single mother’s get half as much credit as they should…so, just wanted to say, that no matter how hard it is right now, one day you’re kids will thank you and will appreciate how hard you work to raise them…I know I did!
Hi there,
My name is Greg Mortimer and I work in marketing here at the Ecco imprint of HarperCollins Publishers. Alaina at Mssinglemama recommended I get in touch with you about a book that we just published, Mary Pols’s ACCIDENTALLY ON PURPOSE. As you know, she recently featured it in a contest on her site and asked me to send you a copy. What’s the best address to get it to you?
thanks!

Do you know how amazing you are?
You really, truly are… and I am SO happy you’re blogging your story. I know how hard it must be with school.
Ms. Single Mama
I’m a single mother of a two year old. I’m 22 and currently in school also. I can commiserate!
Hats off to you. I can’t imagine doing what we do every day AND deal with college at the same time.
Just discovered your blog…. You’re awesome! I’m 22 and a single mom too!
Oh – forgot to mention that I call my daughter Monkey too, lol.
Thanks so much for your comment on my blog! Good for you for getting your college degree. You’re so close! Woo eee!
